We had a classic Annapolis wind day with the breeze starting from the North East and shifting hard east and hard west throughout the day. Race Committee did a fantastic job trying to keep the course as square as possible. We did do a short AP about 2/3rds through the first round because the breeze would not settle in for us. The breeze finally settled in a East/South East direction and Annapolis gifted us beautiful racing breeze for the rest of round 1 and into round 2. The top 3 after day 1 is Severn, Archbishop-Spalding and Key.
We started the day with a short 30 minute postponement due to a lack of wind. But the South Easterly breeze filled in quickly to 5-10 knots and made for beautiful team racing conditions. As the day went on the chop increased and by the time we got the final 4 we were seeing 12-18 knots with 2-4 foot waves rolling down the Bay. This made for challenging conditions for the final 6 races of the day, but we were able to complete the 2 round robins with a final 4 thanks to a great RC and umpire group. Congrats to the top 3 teams, Severn, Key and Archbishop-Spalding on a great event.
