Racing started at 11 am and continued to 5 pm when racing was suspended due to a line of thunderstorms moving in from the west. Wind was from the southwest, 10-20 mph, gusting 20-30 mph. The crews of several boats got baptized in the River Chuck. Thirty-six of 45 races in the 10-team round robin were completed. Many thanks to Michael O'Connor, the head coach of Harvard Sailing, for hosting us on day 1. He promptly handled a small number of breakdowns.
Onto MIT Sailing tomorrow.
Racing from the docks of MIT Sailing commenced at 11 am with a nice breeze from the southwest at 5-10 mph, gusting above 15. After noon, the breeze slowly died as a sea breeze built in Boston Harbor, leading to a break in racing. The 15 mph sea breeze filled in from the east at 2:00 pm and racing resumed. The round robin was completed and the top 6 moved on to the next round. A champion was declared at the end of the 6-team round robin.
