The MBL Team Race tournament was hosted by Sharon High School on Lake Massapoag in Sharon. The event consisted of two six team round robins, with all six of the Mass Bay League teams present. Forecasted conditions were cloudy with a south wind at about 8 MPH all day. The wind direction was ideal for rotations off the Massapoag Yacht Club dock. After a few races in the first round the RC made a small course adjustment to the west. As the second round began the wind shifted all the way to due west with a velocity drop to about 4 MPH. After about eight races into round two the wind worked it's way back to where it started. Thanks to Joe Griffin from Hingham for running the start line and Larry Lovett from Wellesley for running ferry service for sailors when rotations became more difficult, and Matt Johnson from Sharon for moving marks, expediting rotations, ferrying sailors and keeping things moving. Clean races and good sportsmanship characterized the day in non umpired races. There were a few protests but none of them overturned an on-the-water result. Round 2 produced different results from round 1. Duxbury swept the second round and won the event, followed by Winchester in second, and Sharon and Hingham tied for third.
