The 2025 Baker at Mission Bay YC opened with a productive 7-10 kts westerly seabreeze, with sunny skies turning gray, and temperatures dropping to the low sixties during racing.
24 CFJs with new PCISA team-coded sails, 13 Umpires, and 10 R/C and support vessels helped yield 30 races; from 1450-1730 PDT
36 races remain to be sailed in Round 1.
Thank you to all the Umpires, Organizers, Volunteers, and Mission Bay YC for a great Day 1!

Day 2 of the 2025 Baker at MBYC continued along at a productive pace; with equipment, officials, R/C, volunteers, and especially conditions, lending to 54 quality races on the day.
Round 1 racing resumed at 1030 under cloudy skies at R31, w/ SSW breeze around 7-10 kts. Round 1 continued with minor course adjustments as the breeze veered to SW; while volunteers from PLHS served up great burgers and dogs from the beach side grills! 36 Round 1 races were sailed.
After a brief pause in the early afternoon; teams were ranked into Gold/Silver/Bronze for the intended double final rounds for each division. Breeze vacillated from 7-12 kts, while settling back left a few degrees, with minor adjustments. All divisions completed one round (6 races), for a total of 18 Round 2 races sailed, ending approx 1740.
MBYC volunteers adapted to both the fast pace, and atypical deteriorating weather, rolling right into excellent tacos on the beach during the afternoon round, despite eventual actual rain around 6pm!
Championship racing concludes tomorrow with final rounds for Bronze and Silver; followed by the final regatta round for Gold. 18 races remain in the full schedule.

Day 3 of the 2025 Baker began in a comfortable position, with just a final round remaining for Gold/Silver/Bronze divisions, totaling 18 races; and light breeze from the SW already on the course.
After the morning meeting, racing began at 1000, with 6-8 kts from the SW. The schedule began with the final rounds of Bronze/Silver; sailed together in 24 boats, which concluded around 1130.
Following a brief shore break, featuring lunch grilled by volunteers from Mater Dei, racing for the final round of Gold commenced appropriately at high noon, 1200; using 12 boats. Breeze remained SW, increasing slightly to 7-10 kts. Six races were sailed with full umpire resources observing, and some of the most active races of the weekend. The championship was secured during the second flight when Point Loma extended its lead to two, with just the final meeting with runner-up, Mater Dei, remaining in the decision.
The 2025 ISSA Baker Championship enjoyed invaluable support from the association officers and veterans; near ideal team racing logistics from Mission Bay YC; hospitality and sweat from many volunteers; and the good fortune of three days of productive conditions. Thank you, to those many contributors; and thank you to all the competitors for helping us get all sails and boats packed for the road just before trophies. Team Racing!
