NWISA Team Race Districts

After a 1000 competitors meeting, 8 varsity teams headed onto the Lake in a light SW breeze, with major oscillations. Race one was started at 1128. 5 races were completed in qualifying round 1 in sub-optimal breeze that had the RC moving the course orientation from W to S to E to N. By 1400 the fluky winds had receded and competitors postponed ashore in wait for the forecasted Northerly.

With a 8-10mph NNE finally filling in, race 6 was started at 1455. Racing continued throughout the afternoon and into the early evening in great consistent breeze, perfect for team racing. Qualifying round 1 was completed at 1730, and after a short break on shore, round 2 began and the first 12 races of that round were completed. Saturday racing ended at 1915.

Racing began at 0930 in a light NNE. 3 races were completed, race 44 was started but abandoned as the breeze shut off at 1025. Sailors postponed ashore for 2 hours. After some coaxing from Nino and Burke, another Northerly slowly approached the course and races were restarted at 1225 in 6-8mph breeze. Qualifying round 2 was completed at 1400. A final four round consisting of Bainbridge, Sehome, Orcas and Olympia was sailed with some extremely competitive and tight racing over the last hour and a half of racing. The final race, race 62 decided the regatta, with Orcas finishing with a 1-2-6 over Olympia.
