The forecast called for extreme puffs and likely rain, but the day turned out much more manageable. The morning brought puffy, shifty breeze in the 10 to 12 knot range, keeping sailors on their toes through the first few races. As the day progressed, the breeze steadily eased, settling into 4 to 6 knots under clear blue skies.
Sailors adapted well to the changing conditions shifting from managing early puffs and pressure lines to focusing on light air tactics and clean lanes in the afternoon. Starts and course positioning became increasingly critical as the breeze faded.
Despite the unexpected softening of the wind, the race committee ran efficient races. It was a beautiful fall day on the water, and the team stayed consistent and composed through the transitions, making the most of each race.
