9 teams from 8 different schools converged on Lake Lansing (Lansing Sailing Club) for a fun warm-up regatta to kick off a season of racing - the Grillzilla Regatta! Conditions were perfect for a warm up regatta - high winds with high gusts interspersed with moderate lulls gave competitors a great workout shifting gears. Wind ranging from 4-5 to 13 with gusts of 22 with typical shifty Lake Lansing conditions presented a challenge for the sailors who raced well - no capsizes and no protests. At one point we moved the race course to the right by 20 degrees. We completed 8 races and came in for lunch and awards. Thank you to all of the volunteers, parents, coaches, racers, race committee, mark boat folks, who worked hard to make this regatta a success.
