VISA HCS Team Race Regatta 2

VISA had 13 teams from 9 schools compete during another beautiful day on Mill Creek in Hampton, VA for our second team race regatta of the season. Skies were mostly clear, the water was flat, and the temperature reached the low 80's.

The teams were ranked and seeded into A division with 6 teams (Christchurch 1, Christchurch 2, Norfolk Academy 1, Norfolk Collegiate 1, Hampton Roads Academy, and Maury) and B division with 7 teams (Christchurch 3, Norfolk Academy 2, Norfolk Collegiate 2, Grafton, Kecoughtan, Hague, and Poquoson. A and B division rounds were interwoven, but never met. When A division round was completed, a Final 4 round was woven into the rest of the B div. round.

First start was at 9:21 with seas out of the SW at 8-9mph and gusts slightly higher. By 11:00 the wind had dropped to somewhere between unsailable and zero and sailors postponed on shore. The wind filled in NE clocking to E at 5mph and racing commenced with race 14 at 12:11. Winds increased to 9 E, and dropped again to about 5 out of the with a quick clock to NNE for the last few races. The regatta accomplished 42 good races on a digital N course with last start at 3:03PM.

Christchurch School Team 1 took first place with 7 wins and 1 loss. Norfolk Academy followed in second with 6 wins and 2 losses. Taking third place is Christchurch School Team 2 with 4 wins and 4 losses.
