VISA Fleet Championship

Summary

Saturday, November 2:

Eighteen teams representing 13 schools competed in the VISA Fleet Champs with perfect conditions on Mill Creek in Hampton, VA. Skies were blue, air temp hovered around 60 degrees, seas were flat, winds at 8-15mph with gusts slightly higher were initially NNE clocking slightly to ENE. Squirrelly afternoon oscillations made the course just a bit challenging for sailors and committee.

The regatta completed 7 healthy 15-20 min W-4 races in each of A and B division. Christchurch Team 1 stole first place with a notably impressive 6 bullets in B division and a total of 21 points. They were followed by Christchurch Team 2 with 53 points for second place. Norfolk Collegiate finished in third place with 81 points.

We are extremely grateful to the Christopher Newport sailing team for handling all aspects of the event management, especially PRO Dreugh Phillips.

Thanks also goes to Jacob Raymond from Youth Sailing Virginia who has provided unfaltering support to VISA and MASSA events at their facility throughout the season.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
