SEISA 2024 Singlehanded Champs ILCA7 Open

Summary

Saturday, September 21:

Racing was conducted on Galveston Bay for the SEISA Singlehanded District Champs. This requires a 15min tow, but the conditions make it worth it. Breeze was very light in the morning, all fleets were under AP until a harbor launch was called at 10:45. The first race started with light breeze at 6-8kts from 100deg. This held for an hour or so until the seabreeze started to turn on and went right and increased to 10-12kts at 130deg. This was still not a full seabreeze for Galveston Bay so that made plenty of right shifts to make the day interesting for all fleets. 8 races for each fleet were completed (ILCA7, ILCA6 Boys, ILCA6 Girls, ILCA4 JV).

Sunday, September 22:

Near identical conditions started on Sunday. Breeze was light so we AP’ed onshore until 10:45 then towed to the racing area. The first race was started in 6-8kts and quickly the conditions turned into 10-12kts. Similar direction as Saturday so plenty of shifts to keep everyone on their toes. We managed 6 races in each fleet to round out the regatta with 14 races total. William Baker from St. Johns sailed a fantastic regatta and claimed the win and the berth at the Cressy Cup next month.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
