NJISA 2024 Sailfest Trophy Regatta

Summary

Saturday, September 7:

The NJISA High School Sailing season kicked off with the annual Sailfest Trophy Regatta at TRYC, which coincides with the Sailfest festival in Island Heights, the PHRF race at TRYC, and the A Cat race at IHYC.

The weather was spectacular for the first day of the season, with temperatures nearing 80 and sunny skies. The breeze was a bit challenging early on, but the southerly came in towards the second half of the day to make for nice sailing. Ten W4 races were completed by 1600hrs.

Donovan Catholic's first team emerged from a tightly-contested top four to win the regatta by six points over Southern Regional. Christian Brothers Academy's first team finished four points behind Southern Regional, while Toms River South was just two points behind CBA.

CBA's Cole Buczkowski and Matthew Dupree won A Division, while Toms River South's Rex Salzer and Jacob Palombo topped B Division.

Thanks to Dr. Randall Nunn for serving as PRO and to Jason Lutz for running the mark boat. A big thank you to TRYC for welcoming us back for another school year and to the BBYRA for continuing our partnership with the FJ fleet.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
