MDISA DC Sail T3 Fleet Race

Summary

Sunday, October 27:

Sailors arrived to a chilly October morning in DC. Air temp sat at 50 degrees and water temp at 61 degrees, requiring dry-suits/wet-suits from competitors. At 09:30, the wind was steady from the North East around 5 knots, with occasional 30 degree shifts in either direction.

As the day went on the wind became less consistent, coming in bursts then dying off almost completely. Sailors rotated after 2 races for the first set. Following the 3rd A-fleet race, Race Committee sent in the sailors to rotate to ensure a 3rd B race would be scored. Race 3B saw even patchier conditions, but boats made steady progress and the angle held for nearly the whole race. As the last three boats were approaching the finish on their final leg, the wind did a 180 filling from the South-West with light pressure. At the mouth of the river beyond the SW wind burst, there was no substantial pressure and with the forecast showing the wind dying, RC sent in boats for the day.

Shortly after de-rigging began, the wind indeed died off and conditions remained un-sailable for the rest of the afternoon. Sailors departed at 13:15.

Thank you to all teams for coming out to DC for a short but solid T3 regatta. Thank you to the coaches who were able to hear protests. And to all DC Sail staff and volunteers for facilitating a smooth day of racing!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
