Weather was a crisp 50 degrees, warming to 71 by the end of the event with clear skies. As the air began to warm around 9:15, the wind filled from the East at a light 2-5 knots. The breeze remained light throughout the day, but held steady in direction.
After consulting with the coaches, Race Committee elected to run three A races without rotation followed by three B races to minimize time between races, in hopes to ensure that the regatta would be a valid event before the forecasted drop in wind.
First start was at 10:00. Conditions remained stable throughout A fleet's set, but began to show sings of depletion as B fleet hit the water. Following the 3B race, wind conditions were looking bleak as the breeze was down to 1-3 knots and patchy at best. The A fleet sailors returned to the water after a promising spurt of steadier air filled in on the river, but some boats were unable to complete race 4A before the wind died again. Seeing no change in wind velocity on the horizon, a forecast showing the wind depleting to 0 mph by the afternoon, and no practical opportunity for B fleet to sail a 4B race, Race Committee abandoned the ongoing race and sent boats in for the day at 13:00.
Thank you to all the sailors and their families for coming out to DC for a nice morning of light-wind sailing. And thank you to the DC Sail staff for your hard work and to the visiting coaches for your willingness to preside over protest/redress hearings.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
